Edith Grace (Williams) Adwell, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Priscilla Grace (Jones) Williams, was born on July 28, 1917 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Edith went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 96 years, 9 months, 29 days.

A lifelong resident of Shenandoah, Edith attended the Shenandoah Community Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1934. On August 17, 1939, Edith was united in marriage to Ernest Cline Adwell in Sidney, Iowa. To this union five children were born, Suecilla, Mary Ruth, Martha Rose, Carolann and Ernest. Following their marriage they made their home in Shenandoah where Edith worked as a loving homemaker to her husband and children.

Edith was a longtime member of the Shenandoah Church of the Nazarene. She was an avid reader and was proud of the fact that she had read the whole Bible more than 40 times. In addition, she enjoyed reading the newspaper and loved to cook and read cookbooks. She always canned what she raised in the garden and loved to watch and feed the birds.

Preceding Edith in death were her loving husband, Cline on Feb. 21, 2000; twin daughters, Mary Ruth and Martha Rose; parents, Jeff and Priscilla Williams; two sisters, Bessie Smith and Lucretia Williams; and brother, Paul Williams. Survivors include her children, Suecilla of St. Joseph, MO, Carolann of Shenandoah, IA and Ernest of Kansas City, MO; sister, Etta Arnold of Wood River, IL; sister-in-law, Yema Harlow of Glasgow, KY; many nieces, nephews and cousins; other relatives and friends.

urial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials are being directed to the Salvation Army or the Shenandoah Food Pantry in Edith's name.
