Douglas Dean Ditmars was born on January 10, 1961 in Los Angeles, California, the son of Leslie Dean and Elsie Marie (Keeton) Ditmars. Doug entered into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday evening, June 9, 2009 following a brave battle with cancer.

Doug grew up in the Shenandoah community and graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1979. He later joined the Navy and was honorable discharged. In 1990, Doug was united in marriage to Karen Peirson. The couple made their home in Idaho and later in Oklahoma. He worked as a mechanic and a truck driver.

He was a caring, loving and kind-hearted son, brother, father and friend. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and spending time with his children. Although Doug's time on earth was brief, his memory will live on in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughters; Christina and Sierra of Tahlequah, OK; special friend Karen Peirson of Tahlequah, OK; step-son Brandon; sister Debbie Limrick and husband George of Mulberry, IN; 2 nephews; a niece; a great-niece; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
