Dorothy N. Vawter, of Hannibal, Missouri, formerly of Shenandoah, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Beth Haven Home in Hannibal, Missouri at the age of 81 with family at her side.

Dorothy was born the daughter of Ernest and Minnie (Terrill) Freeman on December 31, 1932. She was united in marriage to Elton Vawter on July 22, 1960 in Hannibal, Missouri.

Dorothy and Elton farmed in the Coin, Iowa area before retiring and moving back to Dorothy's hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. They later moved to Shenandoah to be close to their daughter. During her working years she worked at several banks while living in Hannibal and Shenandoah.

She was preceded in death by her spouse Elton, parents, daughter Valerie Vawter of Shenandoah, sisters; Ernestine "Tina" Freeman of Hannibal, MO, Fern Sanders of Hannibal, MO, Mary Margaret Evans of Monroe City, MO and Virginia McNary of Ouincy, IL and brother Wilson Freeman of Hannibal, MO.

Dorothy is survived by one sister Rebecca DeLashmutt and husband Joe of Advance, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
