Dorothy Ruby (Kuper) Smith was born on May 3, 1922 in Woden, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Hattie (Freecks) Kuper. Dorothy passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.

Dorothy attended school through the 8thgrade. She was united in marriage to Joel Cooper in 1945. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of a son, Gary. In June of 1986 she was united in marriage to Jack Smith. The couple was blessed with almost 25 years of marriage, before Jack's passing in 2011.

Dorothy was a dedicated wife, mother and daughter. She spent most of her time raising her son and helping her parents. She later worked as a receptionist at the Shenandoah Medical Center. She was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, the Meta-Grada Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. Dorothy enjoyed reading the Bible and attending various activities while living in Elm Heights.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack Smith; and son Gary Cooper. Those left to cherish her memory include her three grandchildren Corey Cooper, Sara DaCosta and Joey Cooper; 1 great-grandchild Davion DaCosta; special friend Rita Akers; other relatives and dear friends.
