Donna Raye Maxine, daughter of Raymond John and Helen Marie (Sears) Green was born September 22, 1941 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. She passed away on February 17, 2014 in Glenwood, Iowa at the age 72 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Donna was raised in Brock, Nebraska where she attended the Brock Community Schools, graduating from Brock High School with the Class of 1960. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for one year before deciding on a nursing career. She studied and worked at Lincoln General Hospital, receiving her Diploma in Nursing in 1964.
In 1965, Donna was united in marriage to William E. Shaw in Nebraska City, NE and to this union three children were born, George Eric Shaw, Montgomery Daniel Shaw and Susan Raye Shaw. On July 25, 1986, Donna was united in marriage to Charles Maxine at the Congregational Church in Shenandoah by Rev. Ed Cox.
After receiving her nursing degree, Donna worked at Russell- Stover Candies in Lincoln for one year as an industrial nurse. She then worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Nebraska City and two years as School Nurse at Sidney, Iowa. She worked a year at the Beatrice State Hospital and worked part-time at the Shenandoah Medical Center. In 1986, Donna started work as the School Nurse in Shenandoah where she stayed until retiring in 2000. She served on the board of Our House Child Development Center for seven years. Donna was also a member of the Shenandoah Congregational Church for many years, later becoming a member of the First Christian Church in Shenandoah. She enjoyed quilting, scrap booking and making her own greeting cards.
Preceding Donna in death were her father; infant sister, Vickie; and brother-in-law, Neal Jennings. Survivors include her husband, Charles "Chuck" Maxine of Shenandoah; three children, George Eric Shaw and wife Angie of Shenandoah, Montgomery Daniel Shaw and wife Tina of West Des Moines, IA, and Susan Raye Shaw of Scottsdale, AZ; two grandchildren, Eden and Maxwell Shaw; two stepchildren, Brian Maxine and wife Stacy and granddaughter, Sophie of Shenandoah, and Melissa Bedore and husband Chris and grandson, Corby Ross of Bellevue, NE; mother, Helen Linn of Auburn, NE; sister, Mary Jennings of Lincoln, NE; other relatives and many friends.
