Donald Ray Waldron, son of Paul Phillip and Hazel Loretta (Davey) Waldron, was born January 13, 1947 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He passed away on July 2, 2018 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Don was raised on a farm a few miles northeast of Missouri Valley, Iowa with six other siblings. In his teenage years he would help his brother, Gerald, and his Dad with farming operations which he enjoyed very much. His education only went up to the 8th grade and then the terrible disease of mental illness started to begin. In 1974 the farm was sold and he moved to Shenandoah with his parents and younger brother, Jerry. They all lived in the tiny, little round roof house on North Webster Street.

Don worked as a general laborer for Mt. Arbor Nurseries in Shenandoah, from 1970 to about 1985. By then he would have seen several doctors and taken a lot of medicine to keep his mental illness under control. Unable to hold his job he was able to get Social Security-Disability Benefits in 1985 so began his retirement.

Don was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Shenandoah. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. His hobbies were putting model boats and airplanes together, some gardening and watching old westerns on TV. For many years he would enjoy taking long cross-country road trips with his mother and brother, and of course, a week at the Iowa State Fair was always a must event each year.

Don was preceded in death by his father Paul in 1970, mother Hazel in 2009 and brother Paul L. Waldron in 2004. He is survived by his siblings; Murrell (Carol) Waldron of Spencer, Iowa, Beverly J. Nelson of Harris, Iowa, Daryl (Robyn) Waldron of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Gerald (Beatrice) Waldron of Coin, Iowa and Jerry L. Waldron of Shenandoah, Iowa, and many, many nieces and nephews.

Don would continue to live with his little brother in the tiny round roof house on North Webster Street for 81/2 more years until his sudden death on the morning of July 2, 2018.

Celebration of life funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Burial will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
