Dominico V. Leuci, age 67 of Coin, IA (formerly of Pleasantville, NJ) passed away on November 26, 2008 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dominico was born on February 1, 1941 in Pleasantville, NJ; the son of Vincent and Aleda (Ryrie) Leuci. He graduated from Pleasantville High School with the Class of 1958.
On August 17, 1960 Dominico enlisted in the United State Air Force. He made his career serving his country. His military service led him to many different countries around the world. He also served during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement he was transferred to Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska where he concluded his military service after 24 years. Still not ready to leave the workforce, he found employment at the Plattsmouth Country Club Golf Course where he was a faithful employee for 17 years. He also worked at Fontenelle Small Engine Repair, until his final retirement in 2004. The following year, in 2005 he was united in marriage to Catherine A. Tamburri in Toms River, New Jersey. The couple was blessed with 3 years of memorable moments.
He was involved in several organizations including the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled Veterans Association, The Retired Enlisted Association, the Air Force Sergeants Association, the Arbor Day Foundation, the ASPCA and the National Humane Society. In his spare time he enjoyed caring for rescued cats, was a weather watcher for a local television and radio station and was an avid gardener.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Catherine Tamburri Leuci of Coin, IA, sons Dominico V. Leuci, Jr. and wife Carol of Zebulon, NC and Matthew W. Leuci of Naples, FL; and daughters Lori Leuci also of Naples, FL and Katie Garner and husband Doug of Egg Harbor Township, NJ; 12 grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
In keeping with Dominico's wishes his body was cremated and will be laid to rest at a later date in New Jersey.
