Dennie Dee Saner, daughter of Eldon Leon and Pauline Jacqueline (Mason) Davenport, was born on March 23, 1941 in San Luis Obispo, California. She passed away on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Dee was raised in Morro Bay, California. In her youth she enjoyed spending time at the beach and surfing. She graduated in San Luis Obispo in 1959. Dee was united in marriage to Louis Martin Saner, Jr on August 29, 1959 at Morro Bay Catholic Church. They resided in Morro Bay for 2 years then moved to Imogene, Iowa before settling in Shenandoah.
One of Dee's first jobs she really enjoyed was A&W car hop back in the day when they wore roller skates. Dee had many jobs she worked for Tall Corn Motel, Elm Heights Care Center and Hy-Vee. Her favorite job was being a mom, grandma and great-grandma.
Dee was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. She was also a Boy Scout Leader. She enjoyed collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, sea shells, sand from Morro Bay, playing bingo, going to country music concerts and the Iowa State Fair.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; Eldon and Jackie Davenport, in-laws; Louis, Sr. and Bernice Saner, sisters-in-law Linda Tenney and Rosalyn Martin, nephews Mike Martin, Matthew McIntyre and Stan Almeda and her loving dog Sonny. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Lou Saner, six children; Darrell (Holly) Saner, Tammy Parrott, Jeff (Kim) Saner, Colleen (Dave) Racine, Timothy Saner, Kristie (TJ) Skalberg, eleven grandchildren; Alec (Leslie) Parrott, Jena (Kodi) Leslie, Madison(Kyle) Tillman, Lyndi Saner, Joseph (Shelby) Racine, Alexis (Jackson) Baker, Sara Skalberg, Samantha Racine, Kensila Saner, Mason Saner and Brittany Howard, nine great-grandchildren; Kloey Parrott, Laney Parrott, Nile Leslie, Piper Leslie, Henry Tillman, Allee Racine, Hallie Baker, Joseph Washington and Kristian Riggins, brother; Douglas Doyle (Delores) Davenport, numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shenandoah. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Burial will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Memorials may be directed to the family.
