David Mark Hielen was born on August 21, 1976 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of Dennis Steven and Linda Marie (Walker) Hielen. Dave entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 9, 2011 in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 35 years.

Dave's entire life was spent in the community of Shenandoah. He attended the Shenandoah Community Schools. He was currently working at the Redemption Center, where he was affectionately known as "The Boss".

Dave loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, going on walks and playing his guitar. He was a kind and generous person to everyone who knew him. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He had a heart of gold.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lyle and Myrtle Walker and George and Harriette Hielen and an uncle David Force.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter Lindsey Rhiner; parents Dennis and Linda Hielen; brothers Dennis, Stephen, Patrick, Christopher and Nicholas and his wife Kim; sisters Scarlet Schwab and husband John, Angela Anderzhon and husband Ryan and Catherine Hielen; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
