Obituary

Memorials may be directed to the family.  In keeping with David's wishes, the family requests a casual dress code.

David Michael Butler was born on August 6, 1972 in Red Oak, Iowa, to David Glenn and Jolene (White) Butler.  David entered into eternal peace on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska surrounded by his loving family.

He was raised on his grandparents farm where he helped his Grandpa White raise pigs.  During his younger days he enjoyed building and racing remote control cars with his dad.  David attended classes at Iowa Western Community College where he was able to receive his GED.  While working for Red Oak Greenhouse, he met the love of his life, Jackie Strange.    The two were united in marriage on July 4, 1994 in Red Oak.   a daughter Katelin completed their family.  David and Jackie were blessed with 29 years of marriage.  They lived in Red Oak, Shenandoah and most recently made their home in Essex in 2002.

David held several jobs over the years including working for Red Oak Greenhouse, Featherlite Trailers, H&H Trailers and American Hydraulics.  He was a talented welder.  He was known for his ability to fix anything!  He enjoyed building remote control cars, crafting, and spending time with his family.  He was an amazing father, friend and just generally one hell of a guy!   He was a very proud Paw-Paw, as his granddaughters Donna and Alivia called him.  When the weather would warm up, you could generally find David partaking in his favorite hobby of fishing.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Jack White and mother-in-law, Donna Strange.  Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Jackie; daughter, Katelin Parks and husband Jerry; granddaughters, Donna and Alivia Parks; father, David Butler; father-in-law, Floyd Strange; sisters-in-law, Brenda Ridnour and husband Red, Sherry Hedditch & Matthew Hedditch and Linda Lawson; brothers-in-law Boyd Strange and wife Barb and Dale Strange and wife Kathy; dear friends Charles, Amy and Drew Alexander and Dustin Harris; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
