Darlene passed away on Friday, September 1, 2006, at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, following a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 82. Memorials are being directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Darlene Fulkerson Brechwald was born May 11, 1924 to Fairy (Collins) Fulkerson and Abe Fulkerson, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1943.

She lived all her life in Shenandoah, working for Henry Field Seed and Nursery Company as a typist and file clerk for 38 years. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church. She married DeLane Brechwald on August 7, 1976 in LasVegas, Nevada.

Preceding Darlene in death were her parents; brother, Harold Fulkerson; and her beloved husband DeLane (Butch) Brechwald. Darlene will be missed by all her family and friends.

Graveside services were held on Monday, September 11, 2006, at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. Vaughn Livingston read a scripture. Laurie Johnson and other friends gave remembrances of Darlene. Special music was "Friends" and "I Did It My Way". Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
