Daniel Kent Hybskmann, age 71 of Shenandoah entered into eternal rest on Oct. 2, 2009, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dan was born July 24, 1938, in Topeka, KS, to Glenn C. and Sara Elizabeth Hybskmann.
He grew up in Horton, KS, where he developed a life-time passion for hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a 1956 graduate of Horton High School, lettering in three sports, including track. He was on the school's record-setting mile relay team that won a state championship in that event in 1955. The record still stands. Dan was a 1961 graduate of Kansas State University where he majored in horticulture.

Following a six-month stint on active duty with the Kansas National Guard, Dan was employed for over 20 years by Henry Fields Nursery, Shenandoah, rising to a vice president's position. He later worked for Earl Mays Nursery, Shenandoah, retiring a few years ago.

Dan was a former member and president of the Lion's Club, Shenandoah; a member and former president of Twin Rivers Farms, a private hunting club he considered his second home. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Dan was a passionate cook, canner of vegetables, gardener, tree-grafter and Kansas State University sports fan with zero interest in the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

A life-long bachelor, Dan was preceded in death by his mother and father.

Survivors include one sister, Sara Hybskmann Chappell, Lawrence, KS; one brother, Jon William Hybskmann, Topeka, KS; two nieces, and three nephews.
