Dale Eugene Jones, son of William Burl and Ida Mae (Roller) Jones, was born on March 27, 1930 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 88.
Dale lived his whole life in Shenandoah. He graduated from the Shenandoah High School with the class of 1950. He joined the Iowa National Guard Company E in 1948, he spent 33 years in the National Guard retiring in 1981. On June 15, 1952 he was united in marriage to Alice Mae Findley at the First Christian Church in Shenandoah.
Dale worked in the nursery business before becoming Office Manager at Thermogas Company in Shenandoah for 30 years before retiring. In his retirement years, he worked part-time at Hy-Vee.
He was a member of American Legion Post #88 served as member of Color Guard and member of War Memorial Board of Trustees, Elks Lodge # 1122, member since early 1960's, served as Exalted Ruler in 1968, First Christian Church, member since 1959, served as deacon for many years and assisted with youth and other activities with the church and various community service roles. Dale enjoyed spending time with family; traveling/family vacations; gardening with a special interest in flowers of all types; volunteering in the community.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife Alice Jones (2009), parents, siblings and in-laws.
Those left to cherish Dale's memory include his beloved children; son Jeff Jones and wife Yong of Lincoln, NE and daughter Jennifer Jones and husband Richard of Parker, CO; grandchildren Susan Pearce and CJ Peters, Kathleen Cheevers and husband Devin, Kevin Jones and wife Megan and Corey Jones and wife Jordan; great-grandchildren Ariya Pearce, Wren Cheevers, Hailey Jones and Austin Jones; other family and friends.
Celebration of life funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
Visitation with the family will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
Burial will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
Memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah Elks Lodge #1122, Shenandoah American Legion Post #88, or the First Christian Church of Shenandoah.
