Connie Jo Gomel, daughter of Lysle Marion and Lois Marvis (Falk) Kiper, was born on May 6, 1948 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She entered into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah, at the age of 66 years, 9 months, 1 day.
Her early life was spent growing up in Shenandoah, where she attended the Shenandoah Community Schools. Connie graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1966. She later attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri receiving her degree in 1988.
Connie was united in marriage to Eldon Kirby and was later remarried to Jerry Gomel on January 4, 1975 in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Following their marriage they resided in Northboro, Iowa.
Through the years, Connie worked several jobs. Most recently she worked as a secretary in the office of Southview Apartments in Essex, IA and at Wal-Mart in Shenandoah. Connie had been a resident at Garden View for the past seven years. She enjoyed reading, doing cross-stitch and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Connie was a member of the Nazarene Church in Shenandoah and had attended the Northboro Methodist Church and St. John's Lutheran Church in Essex.
Preceding her in death were father; brother, Gregory Kiper; and son Timothy L. Gomel. Survivors include her children, Michelle Keeler and her husband Robbie of Shenandoah, Brandon Gomel of Shenandoah, Shannon Ducharme and her husband C J of Omaha, NE, and Tiffani Bredberg and her husband Joey of Red Oak, IA; grandchildren, Dannielle Stogdill, Jordan Mick, Kaitlyn Kirby, Haylee Walters and Rayder Lair, all of Shenandoah and Alexandria and Ashlyn Keeler of Essex; mother, Lois Kiper of Shenandoah; two sisters, Susie Erhart of Shenandoah and Cheryl McIntyre of Holstein, IA; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials are being directed to the family. Following the funeral service, Connie will be cremated and her ashes will be inurned at a later date in the Union Grove Cemetery at Northboro.
