Cindy passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Accura Healthcare in Shenandoah following an extended illness.  Services will be held at a later date.

Cindy Jeanne Gay was born on December 6, 1945 at the Hand Hospital in Shenandoah, the daughter of Elmer and Ruth (Masterson) Gay.  Cindy entered into eternal peace on July 1, 2026 at Accura Healthcare in Shenandoah.

Cindy resided in Shenandoah for the majority of her life.  She attended Shenandoah Community Schools and as a young girl worked at Spencer's Grocery Store and Ice Cream Shop.  In 1962 she was united in marriage to Mitchell Minor and to this union three children were born; Mitchell, Jr, Dawn and Terry.  The family resided in Shenandoah, Red Oak, Harlan, Denison and Des Moines.  Mitchell was a painter and they had to move quite often for his work.  While living in Des Moines, Cindy was employed at the Iowa State Capital in the Lucas Building.  When she wasn't working, she enjoyed caring for her young family.

After her divorce from Mitchell, Cindy and her children moved back to Shenandoah.  Cindy took a job working for Kay Crowell at Central Travel Service, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed.  She had the opportunity to travel to Hawaii, Mexico and other place around the United States.  Following a long time dream to be a beautician, Cindy enrolled at Southwest Iowa Cosmetology College where she received her degree in cosmetology.  She later worked at a local salon, until realizing that this job just was not for her.  You have to give her kudos for trying!  Later on, you could find her working behind the cash register at Whips Steakhouse in Sidney.

Some of her hobbies and interests included crafting, playing the piano and organ, sewing, quilting, and working with polymer clay with her nephew and niece Kenny Whitehill and Angela Whipple.  She made beautiful quilts for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.  Being raised in the Catholic faith brought Cindy much comfort and peace throughout her years.  Due to declining health, Cindy made the decision to move into Elm Heights Care Center, where she resided for over 10 years.  She enjoyed the staff, playing BINGO and playing bells at their annual Christmas Party.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Connie Whitehill; brother Lonny Gay; an infant son Mitchell Minor; adult son Terry Minor; and grandson Josh Jordan.  Those left to honor her memory include her daughter Dawn Neuman and husband Duke of Shenandoah; grandchildren Caleb Jordan and wife Kami, Jake Jordan, Jessica Minor, Josie Minor and Keagan King; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
