Cheryl Sue MacDonald was born to James Orlin MacDonald and Carol Jean Olson MacDonald on March 15, 1944 in Hamburg, Iowa. She was the third of four children. Cheryl passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah at the age of 63 years and 4 months.

She graduated from Essex High School in 1962. Cheryl was a nurses aide in Creston before becoming a nurses aide at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Shenandoah. When her health kept her from attending church, she enjoyed her Bible Study Group. Cheryl was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the library.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, James; maternal grandparents, Carl Emmanuel and Nellie Sophia Wedell Olson; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Dora Mae Robinson MacDonald; sister and brother-in-law, Jan and Allen Bellew; nephew, Brett Howard MacDonald; stepfather, Fred Olson and stepsister, Deloris Olson.

Survivors include her mother, Carol J. Olson of Shenandoah, IA; brothers, Jerold (Beverly) of Bella Vista, AR and Carl "Bill" (Joan) of Charlotte, IA; nieces and nephews, Brenda (Larry) Harris of Clarinda, IA, Leann (Harley) Wilt of Tecumseh, MI, Brad (Brenda) MacDonald of Shenandoah, IA, Heather (Ron) Lewis of Urbandale, IA, Teri (Mike) Ready, Kay Morgan, David (Chris) Cleary all of Clinton, IA, Deanna (Jeff) Beaubouef of Shreveport, LA and Matthew (Robin) Bellew of Livingston, LA; stepbrothers, Tom (Jennifer) Olson of Shenandoah, IA, Darwin (Nancy) Olson of Augusta, KS, Bob (Susan) Olson of Essex, IA; stepsister, Sharon (Kim) Buckminster and their families as well as other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life services were held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Pastor Jim Ressegieu gave the words of comfort. Soloist was Bill Sons who sang, "One Day At A Time" and "Safe In The Arms Of Jesus". Attending the memory register were Beverly MacDonald and Joan McDonald. Casket bearers were Brad MacDonald, David Cleary, Clay Harris, Randy Lundgren, Kirk Lundgren and Steve Grindle. Interment was in the Essex Cemetery. Memorials are being directed to either the Memorial Baptist Church or to Garden View Care Center. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
