Charlie Morris Freeze was born on December 16, 1917 in Barada, Nebraska; the son of Charlie William and Lillie Mae (Mount) Freeze. Morris entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at his home.

The family later moved to Falls City, NE where Morris attended grade school. The family then moved to Ozark, MO and later to Montreal, MO
where Morris also attended school. During his school days, Morris enjoyed playing baseball, and especially enjoyed his position as catcher. During his last year of school Morris worked as the school janitor.

At the age of 12 he was able to help out his family with the harvest season. Morris worked hard to help support for his family. At the
age of 16 he went to work for "CC" Construction Company, building roads. He also served as a firefighter. He fought fires in Missouri as well as Ogden, Utah. Throughout his working days he primarily farmed and during the winter months he worked at the Omaha Meat Packing Plant. Even after retiring he could still be found helping his son, David farm or pumping gas at the Sinclair Gas Station until it closed its doors in April of 2004.

He was united in marriage to Alice Arnold in Rock Port, MO on March 16, 1938. The couple was later blessed with 4 children; Dixie, Eugene, David and Darlene. He enjoyed his family and was always there to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and friends. Some of Morris'interests included playing baseball, gardening, and attending family gatherings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Alice, brothers Troy and Rex, a sister Wilma, and daughter-in-law Janis Freeze.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children Dixie Major and husband Vernon of Essex, IA, Eugene Freeze of Henderson, NV, David
Freeze and wife Marjorie of Shenandoah, IA and Darlene Kowalke and husband Denny of Milwaukee, WI; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; other family and
many friends.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Sleyster officiating. Keri Workman and Kim Ratliff attended to the memorial register, while Arlene Gibson cared for the flowers. Teri Lindsey read a special poem titled "I'm Free". Special recorded music for the service was "Angel" and "Grandpa". Serving as casket bearers were Michael Major, Steve Major, Matthew Major, Joshua Major, Gary Kowalke, Kevin Kowalke,
Joshua Kowalke and Tyler Kowalke. Honorary casket bearers were all of Morris "Burr" Freeze's friends. Burial followed in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
