Charles Earl Holman,71, ofEssex Iowa, passed away onMay 25th, 2017 at Prairie Meadows Memory Unit in Omaha.

Charles was born inHamburg, IAonOctober 18th, 1945.Heattended Farragut Community School and graduated in 1964. He went to California and worked on a horse ranch for a year, before returning home to farm. He served in the Iowa National Guard and was discharged in 1973.

Charleswas married toLinda McKayonMarch 26th, 1967; they were marriedfor 50 years. They lived together on the farm outside Farragut where they raised their children, Mindy, Kara, and Brent.

Charlesworked as afarmer and a carpenterfor55 years.He enjoyedbowling, golf and playing with his grandchildren.

Charlesis preceded in death byhis father Edward Holman, his mother Neta Holman, his step-mother Ruby, his sister Darlene Spears, and his brother Carrol Holman.

Charlesis survived byhis wife Linda Holman; his brother Melb Holman; his brother-in-law Arnold Spears, his brother-in-law Mike McKay and his wife Ida; his daughter Mindy Stripe and her husband Jon; his daughter Kara Boyer; his son Brent Holman; his grandchildren Amanda and her husband Coy, Neta, Alex, Cole, Natalie, and Brandon; his great-granddaughter Charlie Mae, and other family and friends

Celebration of life funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, Monday, May 29, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Burial will be held in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with flag presentation by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 88 Color Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
