Charles Carlton Edwards the son of Argust and Janie Carlton Edwards was born in Page County, Iowa , on October 19, 1927 and entered into rest at the Gardenview Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at the age of 88 years, 8 months, 16 days.
Charles spent his early life on a farm in Page County, Iowa; he attended the Union Grove School. The family later move to a farm near Burlington Jct., Missouri where he attended school in Burlington Jct. later high school at Quitman, Missouri. The family later moved back to Iowa. In October of 1950 Charles entered the U.S. Army serving in Korea, being discharged in July of 1952., while in the service to his country he received the Purple Heart. Charles worked as a farmer many years, later being employed as a supervisor for DeKalb Seed Company, after DeKalb, later Charles went to work for the City of Shenandoah in the Water Department where he worked until his retirement. Charles was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and American Legion Post #88. Charles loved to camp, travel and was a great car enthusiast.
Charles was united in marriage to Betty Ann Chancey at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah, Iowa on August 29, 1954. To this marriage Rhonda and Richard were adopted.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Argust and Janie Edwards, wife Betty Edwards, daughter Rhonda Edwards and a great grandchild.
Survivors include his son Richard Edwards and wife Jill of West Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters, Nellie Edwards of Shenandoah, Iowa, and Marjorie Sorenson of Council Bluffs, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Evan Fullmer and husband Patrick of Omaha, Nebraska, Grant Edwards, of Boise, Idaho, Paige and Peyton Edwards of West Des Moines, Iowa Wyatt Lorimor and fianc Hallie Shaffer of Archie, Missouri, Weston Lorimor of Archie, Missouri and Andres Nevarro of Fort Meyers, Florida; six great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held from 3-5 pm, Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Monday, July 11, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah.
Burial will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with military rites provided by Shenandoah American Legion Post 88.
