Obituary

Dr. Charles John (Chuck) Peterson, son of George Grover and Ethel June (Almquist) Peterson, was born on August 25, 1944 at Red Oak, Iowa. He peacefully entered into the arms of his Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 68.

Growing up in southwest Iowa, Chuck first lived on a farm near Stanton before moving to another farm near Bethesda at the age of four. In 1957, the family moved to another farm near Morton Mills. During this time, Chuck attended Page County country schools. He graduated from Villisca High School with the Class of 1962.

After high school graduation he attended North Park College in Chicago before returning to farm with his father on the family farm. During this time he also attended school at the Clarinda Community College. In October of 1964 he met Diane Miers and was engaged to be married. In July of 1965 he became ill and was rendered medical care for over a year. Chuck was united in marriage to Diane Miers on October 22, 1966 in Clarinda, Iowa. Due to the help of chiropractic care he left farming and entered Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated in October of 1970 and began his practice in Shenandoah, Iowa on November 1, 1970. He practiced for over 42 years until his health prevented him from working in September 2012.

Of great importance to Chuck was his faith, he was a very active member of Fellowship of Faith Christian Center where he taught and volunteered. He was also a member of the Gideons International and Full Gospel Business Men having served as Area Director. He was also involved in the organizations of the National Rifle Association and Pheasants Forever.

For fun, Chuck enjoyed hunting, collecting and shooting guns, snowmobiling, snow skiing, water skiing, flying airplanes, motorcycling and raising hunting dogs. However, his greatest passion was sharing his Lord with others.

Preceding Chuck in death were his parents; brother, Duane Peterson; sister-in-law, Nina Peterson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Hazel Miers.
