Cellia Emma (Whited) Volner was born on March 25, 1923 in Graff, Missouri the daughter of Luther and Zona (Woods) Whited. Cellia entered into the arms of her Lord on Tuesday evening, January 18, 2011 in Shenandoah, Iowa.

Cellia's early years were spent in Manes, Missouri where she attended grade school. On March 4, 1936 she was united in marriage to Jim Volner in Houston, Missouri. The couple resided in southwest Missouri until they moved to Maryville in the early 1940's. They later moved to Shenandoah in the 1960's.

Cellia was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a strong Christian woman who lived by the principles of the Bible. She knew the scriptures and many people often went to her seeking spiritual advice and direction. It is comforting to know that this special woman is now dancing with the angels.

It is quite remarkable, but even at the age of 87 Cellia was continuing her work of 33 years as a cook at Garden View Care Center in Shenandoah. She lovingly cared for the residents and took much pride in her work. Her life was not all about work. She did enjoy her time spent visiting her children at their homes and getting to see her grandchildren. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Shenandoah. She also loved to collect dolls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Jim; granddaughters Marilyn and Carolyn Ellis; and brothers Harold and John Whited.

Those left to honor her memory include her children Bernice Walker and husband Bill of Rogersville, MO, Howard Volner and wife Nancy of Pierce, CO, Elsie Roberts of Rogersville, MO, Jack Volner and wife Violet of Springfield, OR, Kenneth Volner and wife Mary of Eugene, OR, and David Volner and wife Carla of Red Oak, IA; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother Tommy Whited of Conway, MO; sister Lucy Harms of Mountain Grove, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
