Carl Madison Headley, Jr., the first born son of Carl Madison, Sr. and Abba Otellia (Carlberg) Headley, was born on February 2, 1930 in Brownville, Nebraska. He passed away at Garden View Care Center on March 15, 2017, where he had been a resident since 2008.
Carl, or "Sonny" as he was known, spent his early life growing up on a farm in Brownville, Nebraska. He attended school until the 4th grade. He was injured at birth and crippled on the right side all of his life.
He loved to work in the garden and yard with his father. His mother taught him to crochet a chain stitch so he made many pot holders and small rugs for family and friends. He attended the First Christian Church in Shenandoah and the Congregational Church in Farragut. The family moved to Farragut, from Brownville, in the spring of 1945.
Preceding him in death were his parents; Carl, Sr, and Abba Headley, two brothers Raymond Edwin and Larry Gene Headley and a sister Lois Keep.
He is survived by his sister Faye Rolf of Shenandoah, brother Delbert Headley and wife Myrna of Council Bluffs and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life funeral service will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Visitation with the family will held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa.
Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church of Shenandoah or the Congregational Church of Farragut.
Burial will be held at the Farragut Cemetery in Farragut, Iowa.
