Obituary

Carl Duane Jones was born on August 25, 1951 in Shenandoah, Iowa; the son of Raymond O. and Phyllis J. (Ball) Jones. Carl passed away at his home on Thursday, February 19, 2009 following a brief illness.
Carl was born and raised in Shenandoah. As a young boy he enjoyed spending his summers at the pool. At the age of 8 years old, Carl joined the swimming and diving team and managed to do quite well, participating against others much older than he was. During Carl's high school career he was named State Tennis Champion. Carl graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1969. Following high school he attended Tarkio College and earned his Bachelors Degree in English .
Carl was united in marriage to Eileen Preston and the couple raised their boys in Shenandoah. He worked along side his father, for Jones Plumbing, until his father's death. He later went to work for Eaton's Corporation until his retirement in 2007. Following retirement Carl could often be seen on the golf course or riding his motorcycle. A skilled golf shot, earned him a hole-in-one and a new golf cart in 2008, a feat that Carl was quite proud of. He was also an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church , where he served in various positions. He was a loving father, grandfather and brother. Although his time on earth was much too short, his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond, brother Phillip and step-mother Mary.
