Carl Dean Bettis, son of Lyle Walter and Ethel Jane (Carl) Bettis Moore, was born on February 14, 1939 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Griswold Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Griswold, Iowa.

Carl grew up in the Shenandoah, Essex and Farragut areas. He graduated from Farragut High School. He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Addy on October 26, 1957 in Hamburg, Iowa, they resided in Shenandoah.

Carl was a bus driver for the Essex School System, retired from Eaton's Corporation in 1990. After retirement he did odd jobs as a handyman, he even built his own house. He enjoyed reading, radio controlled airplanes, computers and spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.

Preceding Carl in death was his father, mother, step-father, two sisters, a brother and a sister-in-law.

Carl is survived by his wife Barbara Bettis of Shenandoah, children; Michael Bettis and wife Carol of Napa, California, Christi Brandt and husband Jim of Lowell, Arkansas and Kevin Bettis and wife Gilda of Huntsville, Texas, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.

Memorial visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
