Obituary

Calvin Ananias Carpenter, known as Cac when he was younger, was born October 22, 1926 on the family farm near Elmo, Missouri. He passed away on November 22, 2016 at Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah.

He grew up working on the farm and helping his Dad with carpentry work. He attended country schools. Calvin was 9th of 13 children.

Married Bonnie Hayes June 29, 1952 in Maryville, MO and with this marriage they had two sons.

Calvin served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1947 stationed in the Philippine Islands.

Calvin farmed, drove trucks, and worked construction in Missouri until 1959 when he moved his family to Shenandoah / Essex area to operate a road grader for Page County. In 1971 Calvin went to work at Eaton Corp. retiring in 1991.

Calvin was a member of the Clearmont Christian Church and later Nishna Valley Christian Church where he served as an Elder. He loved his family, his church family and was there to help with any projects.

Calvin was hardworking and always willing to help out. Calvin enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing with his Essex buddies, helping others, tinkering outdoors, long walks and spending time with his family. Those that knew him say he could fix anything without buying any parts. He was a man of few words, but every word was worth hearing.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Dana Carpenter and Pearl (Goodwin) Carpenter, sisters Velma Carpenter, Wilma Hunter, Dorothy Burch, Lois Everhart and Minnie Lee Carpenter, brothers Charlie, Byron, Galen, Landis and Wendell Wayne Carpenter, great-granddaughter Sydney Kate Carpenter.

Calvin is survived by his wife of 64 years Bonnie Carpenter of Shenandoah, sons Randy (Tammie) Carpenter of Shenandoah and Rodney (Diane) Carpenter of Farragut, grandchildren Chad (Carmelina) Carpenter of Australia, Kylie Thompson of Hampshire, Tennessee, Ryan (Kristi) Carpenter of Grimes, IA, Rusty Carpenter of West Des Moines, IA and Robbie (Cassondra) Carpenter of Clive, IA, great-grandchildren: Elijah, Kolby, Everly, Avery, Fitz, Rocco and Calvin Carpenter and Jordyn Thompson, brother Doyle (Rosie) Carpenter of Maryville, MO, sister Joan Sloan of St. Joseph, MO, numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held 9:30 am, Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Clearmont, Missouri.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Friday, November 25, 2016 at the Nishna Valley Christian Church in Shenandoah, Iowa.
