Byron W. Scotton, son of Bert and Alta (Tuttle) Scotton, was born on February 17, 1917, in rural Page County, Iowa near Northboro. Byron entered into eternal peace on Friday morning, January 28, 2011, at the Red Oak Rehab Care Center in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 93.

His early years following graduation from Northboro High School in 1934 were spent working for the Burlington Railroad on the bridge gang for two years.

On February 28, 1938, Byron was united in marriage to the "love of his life" Ruby M. Irvin at Rock Port, Missouri. Following their marriage they farmed Walter Haynie's farm, 160 acres on "Goldenrod" south of Northboro. Roughly 10 1/2 years later the couple moved to the farm 1/2 mile east of Northboro.

Byron was a dedicated husband and father who loved farming, what he did most all his life. He was a member of the Northboro United Methodist Church. Byron was also a member of the Northboro school band and the Emmanuel Masonic Lodge #405 of Blanchard, Iowa. He loved all sports, especially watching his grandchildren participate in their respective sports.

Preceding Byron in death were his parents; wife of 71 years, Ruby; sisters, Mildred Scotton and Odessa Pearson; and two brothers, Harold and Lyle Scotton.

Those left to cherish his memory include his three children, Karon Stanley and husband Jerry of Red Oak, IA, Ed Scotton and wife Diane of Bedford, IA, and Colleen Gilpin and husband Jeff of Omaha, NE; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; other family and dear friends.
