Buford "Bud" Wayne Erhart, son of Frank Oakley and Hazel (Hampshire) Erhart, was born on September 9, 1930 in Talmage, Nebraska.  He passed away on December 30, 2020 at his home in Shenandoah.

Bud's early years were spent in Talmage, Nebraska.  At the age of 12, the family moved to Shenandoah, Iowa.  He graduated from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1948.  During his high school years, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America.

Bud served his country from 1950 until 1954 for the United States Navy.  He was a Radio Seaman - USN-1 on an Admiral's ship during the Korean War.

Bud's first marriage was to Loralee Lucas in 1956.  His second marriage was to Edna Hurd on September 28, 1963 in San Diego, California.  They resided in San Diego, CA; Altus, OK; Ferguson and Florissant, MO before settling back in Shenandoah.  In 1964, Bud adopted Edna's son, Randy.

In 1957, Bud attended and graduated from the Radio Engineering Institute in Omaha, NE.  After graduating he used his degree working for Convair Aircraft (1957-1960), General Dynamics (1960-1965) and McDonnell Aircraft Corp/McDonnell Douglas (1965-1973).  In 1973, he returned to Shenandoah to help in his parent's business, the 59er Motel & Campground. Then he helped Edna with the H&R Block franchise she began. For some years he also started his own business, Erhart Honey Farms, before acquiring the motel business.

Bud was a member and elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In his lifetime he enjoyed bee keeping, hunting and horseback riding.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Hazel Erhart.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Edna Erhart of Shenandoah; children: Randy Erhart and wife Carman of Shenandoah; Patti Lindgren and husband Doug of Wahoo, NE; Barbara Kersten and husband Kevin of Fremont, NE; Karen Hubler and husband Lee of Springfield, MO; and Frank Erhart and wife Michele of Athol, ID; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friend.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 4, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Shenandoah.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral service at the church.  Burial will be held at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah with Military Rites provided by the Shenandoah American Legion Color Guard.  Memorials may be directed to the Intermountain Foundation Primary Children's Hospital, 100 N Mario Capecchi Dr., Salt Lake City, UT 84113.
