Betty Marie (Mort) Rowe was born on May 29, 1934 in Pawnee City, Nebraska, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Kohn) Mort. Betty entered into eternal peace on Thursday morning, August 9, 2012 at the Nebraska Medical Center.

Betty graduated from Pawnee City High School with the Class of 1950. Following graduation she attended Peru Community College where she received her teaching certificate and taught Country School. Betty then moved to Shenandoah where she began work as a secretary at Shenandoah Lumbar Company.

On November 12, 1954 she was united in marriage to Cecil Rowe. Their marriage was blessed with the birth of two children: Judy and Dale. Cecil and Betty enjoyed 44 years of marriage before Cecil's passing in February of 1999.

Cecil and Betty owned and operated Cecil's Conoco until 1996, when they donated the property of the service station to the City of Shenandoah where you will currently find the Shenandoah Fire Station. Cecil and Betty enjoyed traveling and Branson, Missouri was one of their favorite stops! Betty most certainly enjoyed going to the fabulous shows and spending a few days shopping. She also enjoyed spending time with her loving companion Snowball. As everyone who knew Betty, knew that the joy of her life was her family and most of all her grandson Dustin, along with his friend Delannie. She adored them both! Betty attended many sports activities of Dustin's as her health would permit.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Shenandoah where she enjoyed attending their E after 60 gatherings monthly. Before her health started to decline, she loved to do cross-stitch and knit. She would always remember someone with a hand knitted dish cloth or pair of slippers.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Floyd, her son Dale who passed away in April of 1972 and husband Cecil.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Judy Lundgren and husband Dwight of Essex; grandson Dustin Lundgren of Essex; her "special granddaughter" Delannie Miner also of Essex; brother Kenneth Mort and wife Laura of Pawnee City, NE; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends and wonderful neighbors that always kept an eye on her.
