Rebecca Sue (Warren) Den Hartog Hoenshel, age 66 of Shenandoah, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2010 at her home following a brave battle with cancer.

Becky was born on January 8, 1944 in Centerville, IA the daughter of Robert Ai and Mabel (Wilson) Warren. She had one brother, John Robert Warren and wife Pat who live in Ottumwa, IA.

Becky graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1962 and continued her education at the University of Iowa for two years. In 1964 she was united in marriage to Dr. Lee Den Hartog in Centerville. She then finished her music degree at Truman State in Kirksville, MO in 1966. The couple was later blessed with three sons; David and his wife Rachel and their children Martel, Drake, and Jalen; John and wife Stephanie and their children J.T., Haley and Natalie; and Bob and wife Claire.

In 1982 Becky was united in marriage to Jack Hoenshel. Through this marriage she gained three stepchildren; Peggy Keele and husband Mark and their child Spencer Mathews and wife Tracy: Scott Hoenshel and wife Niki and their children Elijah and Emeri; and Wendy Hartsock and husband Tom and their children Samuel and Sydney.

One accomplishment Becky was so proud of was her participation during high school in the All State Chorus her freshman year, All State Band her sophomore and junior year, and All State Orchestra her senior year.

Family, music, sports, and animals were very important to Becky. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf and ran 5 marathons. She loved watching football and basketball. She hit two "hole in ones" and at one point was ranked 2nd in women's tennis in the State of Iowa.

Becky accompanied (on the piano) many musicals and school groups everywhere she lived. The flute was her major instrument, but in the later years the piano became a focus in her life. She also played organ and piano for the Shenandoah United Methodist Church.

Becky was a one of a kind lady. Her dedication and perseverance had no limits. She will be terribly missed by friends and family, young and old.
