Barbara Lee Stuhlmiller was born August 26, 1941 to parents Ralph E. Stuhlmiller and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Plance at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, New York.

Barbara attended school in Buffalo, graduating from Riverside High School in 1959.  She participated in synchronized swimming and was very involved in her church and youth fellowship. After high school, Barbara attended Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Welfare and Christian Education in April of 1963.

It was at Tarkio College she met and fell in love with James (J.F.) McQueen. The two were joined in marriage on April 20, 1963 at the Riverside United Presbyterian Church in Buffalo. To this union 3 children were born. James Scott, Feb 20, 1967, Tracy Ann, Aug 24, 1970, and Andrew Frank, May 28, 1973.

Once married, the couple lived on a farm in the Locust Grove Area. Barbara acquired many skills while living in rural America, including learning to drive through the Iowa fields, raising and dressing chickens, and canning a variety of foods. After J.F. joined the Air Force in 1966, they moved to Amarillo, Texas where Barbara served as the Secretary to Director for the United Presbyterian fund-raising program, 50 Million Drive. From Amarillo, the couple moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1968. After J.F. completed four years in the military, the pair settled in Shenandoah and in 1972 built a home in Farragut, where they reside today.

Barbara was very active in her community, belonging to the Farragut Betterment Council, Garden Club, O.N.O., and Farragut Improvement Committee. After moving to Farragut, besides being active members of the Farragut United Methodist Church, Barbara taught Sunday school for 25 years. She held several leadership positions, being Sunday School Superintendent, President of the United Methodist Women (UMW), Council Bluffs District UMW Officer, and Director of Vacation Bible School for a number of years. Barbara also served on the boards of the Parish Council and Our House Child Development Center.

Barbara was an avid reader and loved to share her love of reading. With friend Sue Limbacher, she established a summer reading and book loan program for all ages. From 1976-1978, Barbara taught at the Wee Shipmates Pre-School in Farragut. Barbara was employed at the US Postal Service in Farragut as clerk in 1978, becoming postmaster in 1984 and retiring in 2002.

Barbara's favorite pastimes were spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to travel, garden, and cook. She was a gracious host; one who never let anyone leave hungry from her house. Time with friends was usually spent playing bridge or pinochle and being part of the local supper club. Her family will always remember her skill at crossword puzzles and the word search game, Boggle. You were sure to win if Barb was on your team in a game of Trivia Pursuit.

Barbara died peacefully at home on April 18, 2022. Preceding Barbara in death were her parents, Ralph and Betty, brother and sister in-law, Marty and Marlene Stuhlmiller; and father and mother in-law, Howard and Twyla McQueen.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 59 years, J.F. McQueen, children, Scott (Carol Mosites) McQueen of Houston, TX, Tracy (Casey) Campin; grandchildren Hannah, Colin, and Cael of Omaha, NE, Andy (Amy Smith); grandchildren Alexis, Jordyn, and Madison of Clarinda, IA, brother Kenneth (Patricia Ziolkowski) Stuhlmiller of North Tonawanda, NY; loving companion Charlie; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
