Barbara Jane (Edwards, Matthews) Geise was the youngest of three children born to Leo Louden and Lola May Edwards on October 16, 1945 in Hamburg, Iowa.

She attended school through the 8th grade between the schools of Hamburg, Shenandoah and Farragut.

Barbara then married Danny Paul Matthews on June 10, 1962. To this union two daughters, Sherry Ann and Cindy Sue, were born. Tragedy struck on December 31, 1968 when Danny was killed in an automobile accident. At that time, Barb moved with the girls to Shenandoah where they lived for 6 years. Barbara then married Gary Geise on July 13, 1974 and the family moved to Underwood, Iowa. After their divorce, Barb moved back to Shenandoah in 2010. Barbara went to be with her Savior on November 11, 2014.

Barbara had a huge heart for animals and always had family pets. Many of her childhood memories involved animals and she was always a defender of animals. Her children and family were her life.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Danny Paul Matthews, her father Leo and mother Lola and her brother, Leslie Edwards. She is survived by her sister Darlene Long of Riverton, IA, her daughter, Sherry Ann Schermer and granddaughter Cassey Schermer of Charles City, IA and her daughter, Cindy Sue Van Weelden, her husband Steve and their children Caleb Daniel, Claire Neva and Addison Ann of Pella, IA.

Burial will be held at the Riverton Cemetery in Riverton, Iowa.
