Barbara Ann Boyer, daughter of John B. and Rosetta (Kelso) Nicholas, was born on December 4, 1937, in Page County, Iowa, near Shenandoah. She passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2006, at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa, at the age of 68.
Her early life was spent in the Des Moines, Iowa, and Junction City, Kansas areas. The family later moved back to Shenandoah where Barbara attended the Shenandoah Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1955.
On April 25, 1958, Barbara was united in marriage to Robert Lee Boyer in Geary, Kansas. Following their marriage they made their home in Junction City, Kansas. To this union were born four children, John C., Donald L., Rose Mary, and Tracy. Barbara attended school to become a beautician. They later relocated back to the Shenandoah area where Barbara worked for Earl May Seed & Nursery. She enjoyed fishing, reading and doing puzzle book puzzles.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents; husband, Robert Lee Boyer; brother, Donald Nicholas; and sister, Peggy Whitslar.
Survivors include her children, John C. Boyer of Council Bluffs, IA, Donald L. Boyer of Omaha, NE, Rose Mary Boyer Thompson and Tracy A. Boyer of Shenandoah, IA; two brothers, Mike Nicholas and Robert Nicholas; two sisters, Jane Stewart and Joyce Smith; other relatives and many friends.
