Cary Ayeleene Fichter, age 75, passed away April 24, 2008 at her home near Randolph, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 27, 1932 on a dairy farm near Bastrop, Louisiana to Henry and Suzie (Brown) Boykin. She was raised and educated in Bastrop. She attended college at Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1955, Ayeleene moved to live with her sister Sarah in Sidney, Iowa, where she met Albert Corby Fichter, Jr.

Ayeleene and Corby Fichter, Jr. were married December 18, 1955, in the Shenandoah United Methodist Church. They lived in Fremont County near Randolph, Iowa, and raised a family together. She worked at various jobs over the years, but her most fulfilling role was caretaker of her family. She volunteered her as 4-H leader, Sunday School teacher, and Farm Bureau secretary. Ayeleene was also a member of the Randolph United Methodist Women and Birthday Club. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, completing crossword puzzles and baking for her grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and she thanked her husband and God for having that privilege.

Ayeleene was preceded in death by her parents and her infant brothers Carol Neal and Harold Omar, her sister Virginia Ford, and her brother Cecil Boykin. She is survived by her husband of over 52 years, Albert Corby Fichter, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Corby III and Jean Fichter of Essex, IA; daughters and sons-in-law, Joy and Raleigh Rubenking of Norwalk, IA, Melanie and Todd Dial of Shenandoah, IA, Amy Fichter of Menomonie, WI, and Allyson and Mike Forney of Tabor, IA; grandsons and granddaughters, Adam, Austin and Heidi Fichter, Benjamin, Craig and Anada Rubenking, Nicholas and Megan Dial, Simon Pagona and Maria and Baby Boy Forney; her siblings and in-laws, John Boykin, Sarah Boykin, Elizabeth and J. C. Lewis, Edward (Pete) and Phyllis Boykin and Rosemary Fichter; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and loving friends.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the Randolph United Methodist Church in Randolph, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by Pastors Jack Hofmockel and Andrew Rubenking. Organist was Lois Aistrope. Vocalists were Ben and Anada Rubenking. Attending the memory register were Alena Fichter and Barb Teachout. Caring for the flowers were Barb and Leonard Wilkins, Phyllis Trively and Nancy Schrum. Ushers were Duane Aistrope and Doug Aistrope. Casket bearers were Nicholas Dial, Ben Rubenking, Craig Rubenking, Austin Fichter, Adam Fichter and David Carter. Interment was in the Randolph Cemetery. Memorials in Ayeleene's name are being directed to the Paul Clapper Foundation or to the Randolph Fire & Rescue. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah was in charge of the arrangements.
