Arthur Dow Demanett, son of Arthur Lanzo and Virgia Mae (Begnoche) Demanett, was born on November 11, 1932 in rural Cloud County, Kansas, near Concordia. He passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 82 years, 7 months, 9 days.

His early life was spent growing up in rural Cloud County, Kansas where he attended a one room schoolhouse. The family later moved to a farm near Yorktown, Iowa, where he attended country school through the eighth grade. He continued his education, attending high school in Clarinda, Iowa, graduating from Clarinda High School with the Class of 1950.

Following high school Arthur continued to farm, working as farmhand, which he had done since his childhood. On January 21, 1953, Arthur was inducted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He proudly served his country as a Corporal until receiving his Honorable Discharge on October 28, 1954.

On September 10, 1955, Arthur was united in marriage to Evelyn Joan Ballain in Shenandoah, Iowa. They were blessed with four children, Kevin, Timothy, David and Julia. They made their home in Shenandoah. They were married 32 years prior to divorcing. Following his return from the war, Arthur embarked on a long career with the Henry Field Seed and Nursery Co. in Shenandoah.

In his spare time, Arthur enjoyed woodworking, furniture refinishing, gardening, taking in the beauty of the great outdoors and attending his children's events. Above all, Arthur's greatest joy were his children and grandchildren. He was always full of happiness and peace. He was a member of the Shenandoah First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and also served as a Boy Scout Troop Leader.

Preceding Arthur in death were his parents; three sisters, Imogene Joyce Demanett, Marlene Joy Lewellen and Geraldine Mae Scott. He is survived by his four children, Kevin Dow Demanett and wife Kathy of Omaha, NE, Timothy Lynn Demanett of Des Moines, IA, David Paul Demanett and wife Jane of Johnston, IA, and Julia Annette Demanett and fianc Daniel Anderson of Shenandoah, IA; five grandchildren, Stefanie Rene Barrett and husband Marty of Omaha, NE, Kristin Nicole Demanett of Chicago, IL, Whitney Joan Demanett of Fairmont, NE, Stephen Jon Demanett and Brenton Tyler Demanett, both of Omaha, NE; eight great grandchildren, Maggie, Charlie, Henry, Trenton, Madison, Warren, Isaiah and Skylan; four siblings, Cleo Dee Demanett and wife Diane of Gold Canyon, AZ, Larry Lee Demanett and wife Gladys of Randolph, IA, Shirley Jean Stanley and husband Richard of Shenandoah, IA, and Raymond Demanett and wife Jeannette of Shenandoah, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
