Art Turnbull's Obituary
Arthur "Art" Aaron Turnbull, son of Dewey and Gladys (Perry) Turnbull, was born on June 23, 1922, in Blanchard, Missouri. He passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2006, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 84.
Art spent his early life in the Blanchard area and attended country school. He also attended high school in Blanchard. On May 24, 1947, Art was united in marriage to Harriett Shuffler in Troy, Kansas. The couple resided in Shenandoah after their marriage.
Art worked for Lakes Nursery, Ted Meyer's Trucking and bulldozer digging basements. He also worked for Mount Arbor Nurseries from which he retired. After retirement, he worked for Don Stripe at the Shenandoah Livestock Auction. Art was a member of the Eagles Club in Red Oak, Iowa. He enjoyed horses, fishing, doing yard work and dancing.
Preceding Art in death were his parents; his wife, two sons, Teddy Turnbull and Butch Rohrer; companion, Alma Lyvers; granddaughter, Kelly Rohrer; sister, Hazel Bartles and infant sibling. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Turnbull of Shenandoah, Iowa; son, Steven (Jody) Turnbull of Harrison, Arkansas; son, Jim Turnbull of Neosha, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; brother, Gene Turnbull of Loveland, Colorado; sister, Viola Crawford and husband Larry of Calico Rock, Arkansas; sister, Lucille Harris and husband Jim of Colorado; daughter-in-law, Connie Rohrer of Shenandoah, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 22, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah. Words of comfort were given by the Rev. Mark Dolphens. Special music was "Green, Green Grass Of Home" and "God Bless The U.S.A." Attending the memory register was Libbey Schlup. Casket bearers were Scott Turnbull, Gary Hilgerson, Terry Hilgerson, Byron Rohrer, Corey Schlup, Josh Smith, Dillion Gusterson and Cole Ward. Interment was in the Blanchard Cemetery in Blanchard, Iowa. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
