Obituary

Ann (Schmierbach) Cheney-Allumbaugh, daughter of Henry and Martha (Fuhrman) Schmierbach, was born on April 29, 1914, in Ortonville, Minnesota. She passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, in Willmar, Minnesota at the age of 92.
Growing up, Ann was raised in the Clinton, Minnesota and Ortonville area, where she received her education. In 1939, Ann was united in marriage to Roy Cheney at Imogene, Iowa. To this union one son Dale was born on October 7, 1940. They farmed in the Hastings and Red Oak area until Roy's death in 1961. In November of 1965, Ann was married to Don Allumbaugh until his death in 1986. She worked at the Shenandoah Nurseries and Earl May Seed until her retirement. Ann enjoyed traveling the United States and camping.
Preceding Ann in death were her parents; twin sister, Minnie Schmierbach; brother Fritz Schmierbach; and her two husbands, Roy Cheney and Don Allumbaugh. Survivors include her son, Dale Cheney and his wife Shirley of Manassas, VA; step-son, Mike Allumbaugh and his wife Janet of Shenandoah, IA; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; step-granddaughter; three step-great grandchildren; brother, Herman Schmierbach of Ortonville, MN; sister-in-law, Hellyn Schmierbach of Cokato, MN; niece and nephew, Deb and Terry Mueller of Minnesota; other relatives; and a host of friends.
Graveside services were held on Monday, January 15, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah. The Rev. Allan Bash gave the words of comfort. The Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
