Obituary

Alma passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2007, at the Shenandoah Medical Center following a brief illness. A celebration of life service, following cremation, will be held on Friday. Inurnment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are being directed to Nishna Productions in Shenandoah.

Alma Marie Blackwell was born in Marengo, Iowa on October 12, 1922. She passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on February 18, 2007, at the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. Alma lived all of her life in southwest Iowa. The remaining few years in Shenandoah. Alma had many interests. She loved children and animals, doing fine handiwork, playing bingo, and watching her favorite shows on television, such as "America's Funniest Home Videos". In 1993, Alma proudly received the Governor's Annual Volunteer Service Award for the state of Iowa. Alma always had ready smile and warm greeting to all she met and was well-loved by the many friends she made. She will be missed.

Alma is survived by her brother, Harold Blackwell and his wife Darlene of Lewiston, ID; sister-in-law, Melva Blackwell (wife of Alma's brother Leo) of Omaha, NE. Preceding Alma in death were her parents, Lewis Blackwell and Esther Finkle Blackwell; brother Leo Blackwell and brother Robert Blackwell of Glenwood, IA; other relatives and many friends.
