Alma F. (Thomas) Bishop was born at home in rural Coin, Iowa during a blizzard on February 18, 1936 to Gist Rhoads and Audrey Fay (Thompson) Thomas. On October 17, 2020 Alma passed away peacefully with her loving husband Lloyd and daughters Julie and Jacque by her side.

Alma was raised on the farm and attended Coin High School where she was a cheerleader and drum majorette. She graduated in 1954 and always looked forward to her alumni banquets.

On June 6, 1954 she married her high school sweetheart Lloyd J. Bishop at the Coin United Methodist Church. They had two daughters, Julie Ann and Jacquelyn Kay, and assorted dogs throughout the years.

The Bishop family made their home in Diagonal, Iowa were Alma worked for Dr. M. T. Gordon and Harold and Mildred Turnbull at the Diagonal Reporter Newspaper. She had many fond memories of her friends and cherished all the times they shared in Diagonal.

The family moved to Farragut, Iowa in 1969. Alma worked for Drs. Weaver and Overholser O. D., then Mid Plains Eyecare. In later years she worked part time at the Farragut Community School lunchroom where she enjoyed all of the students there.

Alma loved her family, beautiful home, garden, flowers and neighbors in Farragut. She especially loved visiting and enjoying a coke at the fountain at George Jay Drug, lunch at Lu and Al's and the Elks chicken dinners with a table full of friends. Everyone was always welcome to join in.

The family she loved so much includes husband Lloyd, daughter Julie Bishop both of Farragut, daughter Jacque and son-in-law Dave Lashier of Shenandoah. Granddaughters Jennifer (Todd) Samuels and their children Tate and Tenley of Ames, Iowa, and Jess(Katie) Lashier of Ankeny, Iowa. All who have fun times to remember.

Alma is preceded in death by her parents, and in-laws Murrell "Casey" and Alverda "Verdie" (Horn) Bishop. Nephew Kevin Thomas and his wife Janice.

Loving family includes sister Katy (Norbert) Martin of Shenandoah and brother Dale "Buck" (Marian) Thomas of Coin. Sister-in-law Helen Bishop of Shenandoah. Niece Pam (Jake) McGargiIl of Imogene, nephew Brad (Melissa) Thomas of Coin, and niece Susan (Rob) Murphy of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Family also includes great and great-great nieces and nephews.

We are all grateful for the joy and laughter over the years.
