Alice Mae (Findley) Jones was born on August 17, 1931 in Estherville, IA the daughter of Clement J. and Gertrude (Bennett) Findley. Alice entered into eternal peace on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at the Shenandoah Medical Center.
She attended school in Lamar, Missouri and graduated with the Class of 1949. In 1949 Alice moved to Shenandoah and worked at the Page Theater until her marriage to Dale E. Jones on June 15, 1952 at the First Christian Church. The owners of the theater, Bob and Mary Lou Holdridge later found out that Alice wasn't working and asked her to work part-time for them at The State Theater and their Drive In Iowa Theater. Since it was only going to be a part-time job Dale agreed that she could go back to work. The part-time job was almost a full-time job some six years later. Bob and Mary Lou and Dale and Alice became good friends over the years, but Alice would always ask if they knew what exactly part-time work was. In a search to find a job that she could do from home in an effort to be with their children Jeff and Jennifer, Alice decided to start her career selling Avon. She did quite well and served as an assistant district manager for 20 years and sold for the company for over 41 years.
Some of Alice's interests included putting together jigsaw puzzles, working crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking, baking, and reading. She was a member of the American Legion Post #88 Auxiliary, the First Christian Church, and the Elks Lodge #1122.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, a sister Dorothy Shannon, brother James "Jim" Findley, brother and sister-in-law Charles "Bud" Findley and wife Marg, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law Herbert Jones and wife Blanche, Floyd Jones and wife Juanita and Kenneth Jones and wife Betty.
