Obituary

Alice Marie Beam Johnson was born on September 7, 1920 in Riverton, Iowa, the daughter of Sidney and Hazel (Dickerson) Beam. Alice entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

Alice's early years were spent in the Riverton community until she was 5 years old. The family then moved to Strahan, Iowa where she attended school through the 10th grade. The family then moved to Coburg where she continued her education and graduated from Coburg High School.

On August 17, 1952 she was united in marriage to Ray Johnson at the First Christian Church in Shenandoah. During her working days she was employed as a housekeeper and worked in the office at Henry Fields for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship (where she served as President and Vice President as well as on the Social Finance Committee) and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Alice enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, cooking and experimenting with new recipes, sewing, and spending time with her nieces and nephews. Alice was a caring and loving person who will be greatly missed, and lovingly remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ray; and a niece and nephew in infancy. Those left to honor her memory include her sisters Dorothy Beam of Red Oak and Altha Laabs of Shenandoah; brother Leo Beam of Tipton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
