Aletha Marie Gilbert was born February 20, 1919 and passed away October 30, 2014.

Aletha was born in Minden, Iowa and lived around Avoca, Iowa. She attended school at Persia, Iowa. In 1936 she came to Shenandoah and worked in the Spurgeons Store. On May 19, 1938 she married Kimber A. Gilbert in Fremont, Nebraska. Aletha worked side by side with her husband in a successful trucking and grain service for many years. The couple and their business is well known by many residents in the Shenandoah and Southwest Iowa area.

Aletha was preceded in death by her husband Kimber A. Gilbert, parents Martha and Carl Plautz, step-father Glen Sargent, sister Henritta Holden, brother Eldon Plautz and grandson-in-law Michael Rausch.

Survivors include daughter Lavonne (William) Tripp, of Omaha, Nebraska, son Larry Gilbert, of Shenandoah, sisters-in-law Pauline Plautz of Shenandoah, Ella May Crawford of Shenandoah, Myrtle Richardson of Gretna, Nebraska, Lena Hewitt of Pensacola, Florida, granddaughter Kimberly Rausch and great-granddaughters Haylie Ann Rausch and Mandi Marie Rausch of Shenandoah.

No Visitation, Private services with family only.

Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah.
