Alan Kent Erickson, son of Donald Dale and Lois Harriett Elvera (Anderson) Erickson, was born on July 19, 1957 in Essex, Iowa. He passed away on October 29, 2017 in a farming accident at the family farm in rural Essex, Iowa, at the age of 60.

Alan attended Essex Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1975. While in high school, Alan participated in Fremont Farmers 4-H Club showing hogs and beef cattle. He was a member of the National Honor Society. After high school he attended Iowa Western Community College in Clarinda, Iowa from 1975-1977. He attended and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with an emphasis in agriculture in 1979. He farmed the Erickson Family Farm all his life raising row crops, hogs and cattle. He paid for his schooling by raising hogs.

Alan was an outstanding individual. He lived his faith everyday and was a faithful member of the Faith Evangelical Covenant Church.

Survivors include his brothers; Ronald and Leslie Erickson both of Essex, Iowa, nieces and nephews include Lauren, Travis and Taylor Erickson of Bellevue, Nebraska, Aunt Rosemary Anderson of Red Oak, Iowa, along with many cousins, friends and his Faith Covenant Church Family. Celebration of life memorial service will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Faith Covenant Church in Essex, Iowa.

Burial of cremains will be held in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Nyman, Iowa.
