Aileen Mildred Weland-Mace, was born on March 21, 1922 at Riverton, Iowa, the daughter of Reuben and Vinnie (Monk) Richie, and passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2006, at Northview Manor, in Tarkio, Missouri.
Growing up, Aileen lived in the southwest Iowa communities of Riverton and Hamburg and northwest Missouri communities of Watson and Westboro. On April 27, 1940, Aileen was united in marriage to Kenneth Charles Weland at Shenandoah, Iowa. After their marriage they resided in Shenandoah. After the death of Kenneth in 1974, Aileen continued to live in Shenandoah. In 1991, she was united in marriage to Donald Mace at the First United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. Following their marriage they resided in Shenandoah and later moved to Essex, Iowa. Mr. Mace passed away on March 9, 2001. Aileen worked for over 25 years as a secretary at Henry Field Seed and Nursery Company. She was a devoted Methodist and was a lifetime member of the Degree of Honor Club. Aileen enjoyed her yard, her flowers and gardening. She also loved her grandchildren, traveling, and her beloved pet dog Penny; along with her many enjoyable times with her friends.
Preceding Aileen in death were her parents, her husbands, Kenneth Weland and Donald Mace; and infant son Richard; daughter Janice; brothers, Bob, Harold, and Dick Richie. Survivors include her daughter Sharon Grebe and husband Dick of Tarkio, MO; brother Cecil Richie of Shenandoah, IA; grandchildren, Teresa Boldra of Omaha, NE, Terry Grebe of Tarkio, MO, Christopher Miller and wife Liz of Omaha, NE, Mellissa Powers and husband Matt of Omaha, NE, six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 26, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah, Iowa. Words of comfort were given by Rev. Jim Gubser. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace", "Beyond The Sunset" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord". Attending the memory register was Teresa Boldra. Honorary casket bearer was Cecil Richie. Casket bearers were Dick Grebe, Terry Grebe, Trent Boldra, Ty Boldra, Chris Miller and Matt Powers. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Shenandoah, Iowa.
